ACCESS TO THE HOUSE

 

CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT 

Due to newly implemented Massachusetts COVID short-term rental rules, Check-in and out times have changed to allow for extensive cleaning.  Check-in time is now 3:30 pm and check-out time is now 10:30 am.

 

  • The house will not be available to you until 3:30 p.m.

  • Extra house keys may be found on the piano located near the front door.

  • DO NOT remove the key from the lock box cover

  • The lock cover with key must be returned to the lock box upon check out or a $150 fee will be assessed. 

  • Early check in (before 3:30 pm) or late check out (after 10:30 am) will result in a loss of your security deposit.

  • House address: 65 Edgartown Road, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568

You will receive the door code via U.S. mail or email. The code changes yearly.

  • Walk through the arbor, go to the side of the house and stand in front of the red door.

 

  • Look to your right. You will see the lock box.

  • Enter the code.

 

  • Push the middle black button down and keep it depressed.

  • Pull the cover off while keeping the button depressed.

  • The key is inside. Open the door.

  • Repeat the steps and place the key and the unit back in place.

 

  • Lost lock box cover will result in a $150 fee.

  • The keys to use during your stay may be found on the piano by the front door. Loss keys will result in a $25 fee.

 


 

LINEN/HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE

 

Linens (sheets, pillow cases, bath towels, beach towels, wash cloths, etc.) are NOT included.  Please bring your own linen or contact Island-owned and operated Takemmy Linen Rental: www.takemmylinenrental.com or (508) 693-2788. Takemmy Linen Rental has provided convenient and reliable linen rental service to Vineyard vacationers for over 35 years.

 

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY 

 

The maximum number of guests is limited to nine (9) persons.

 

BED TYPE & COUNT

 

Upstairs: Two Bedrooms: Room 1- one queen bed; Room 2 -two twins beds. One full bath.

 

Downstairs: Three Bedrooms: Room 3 - one queen bed en-suite; Room 4-one full bed; Room 5-one full bed with mini refrigerator and microwave. 

 

Total downstairs baths: two full baths (one is en-suite located in room 3).


 

INITIAL HOUSE SETUP

 

The house will contain an initial setup of supplies.  Toilet tissue in each bathroom, paper towels on the kitchen counter, dishwashing liquid and hand soap at every sink.  It is the guest’s responsibility to bring needed supplies including food, beverages, additional toilet paper, etc.  You must leave the kitchen in the condition in which you find it (clean with pots and dishes put away) or lose part of your security deposit.

 

GRILL

 

The charcoal  grill is available for guest use. Charcoal is not provided. 

 

PIZZA OVEN

 

We ask that the guests do not use the pizza oven without obtaining written permission from the manager via email at larrierhouse@yahoo.com. Use of the pizza oven without permission will result in a loss of your security deposit. 

 

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING 

 

The garbage and recycling bins can be found on the side of the house in a large brown container.

 

RECYCLING 

 

YES- only recycle clean bottles, cans, paper and cardboard.  Place recyclable items directly in the Recycling bin.

NO- trash bags, loose plastic bags and  bagged recyclables.

 

NOTE:  Any bags placed in the recycling bin (including trash bags)  “turn” the recycling into garbage and, thus, incurs a $65 pick-up charge by the garbage company. The $65 pick up charge will be deducted from the renter's security deposit.

 

BOOKS & GAMES

 

Feel free to read any book you would like.  Please only take soft--back books to the beach. You can find our books on Amazon.com so don’t worry if you can’t finish a book; just order yourself a copy and continue to read at home.  

 

Children's books can be found inside the game closet located in the living room.

 

Board games, crayons, puzzles, etc.,  can be found inside the game closet located in the living room.


 

WiFi

 

 Password is located on the game closet door.

 

TV 

 

Remote controls are paired with specific TV’s.  Please  do not remove remotes from their assigned  rooms.

KITCHEN

 

Larrier House Kitchen--Everything is in its place, and there is a place for everything. 

Please put everything back where you got it from so that the next guest may enjoy the same amenities as you. Please use SOS or steel wool pads to clean all pots.  The kitchen must be left clean--all dishes and pots must be put away clean upon your departure.  A dirty kitchen will result in  partial loss of your security deposit. 

 

DISHWASHER

 

Please do not put chef or steak knives in the dishwasher. 


 

LOSS OF SECURITY DEPOSIT

 

Security deposit loss:  If there is damage to the house and furniture including but not limited to 

  • Stains on the furniture (avoid sitting on furniture with wet bathing suits), 

  • Placing bags (plastic or paper) in the outside recycling/bin, pets of any kind in the house or on the property, 

  • Use of the fireplace or pizza oven, 

  • Abnormal wear-and-tear of any and all appliances, 

  • Unwashed dishes/pots/pans left in the sink upon departure, 

  • Moving furniture to other rooms or taking indoor furniture outdoors, 

  • Missing house keys, 

  • Removal or missing smoke detector 

will result in a full loss of security deposit and may result in additional fees.

 

Tenant(s) should perform a pre-move-in inspection and report (via email, text or phone call) any and all damage to the house within 24 hours of taking possession of the home.  

 

PETS

 

Pets are not permitted under any conditions. If any evidence of a pet(s) is found on the premises, you will be asked to vacate the property immediately and no refund of rental payments or security deposit will be returned.

 

SMOKING

 

Smoking of any kind is not permitted.  Any evidence of smoking found in/on the premises will result in forfeiture of damage deposits and/or eviction.

FIREPLACE

 

 The fireplace cannot be used.


 

WATER AND SEPTIC

 

 Do not flush anything other than toilet paper. If it is found that nontoilet paper products, including sanitary napkins, diapers or wipes,  have been flushed and clog the septic system, you will be charged for all damages associated with the septic repair.

 

GETTING AROUND THE ISLAND WITHOUT A CAR

 

Martha’s Vineyard has a great bus system! The bus is a “flag stop company” which means in addition to set stops, the bus will stop for you if you flag it down and are standing on the side of the road in the direction you want to go.  Taking the bus from the Larrier House: All you have to do is leave the Larrier House, walk to the sidewalk, flag the bus and it will stop and pick you up.

BAGS WITHIN CLOSET

 

Please do not open the bags that are  in the bedroom closets. Opening these bags will result in a $50 loss of security deposit for each bag opened. 


 

MASTER BEDROOM CLOSET 

 

The master bedroom has been equipped with over twelve (12) clothes drawers and multiple decorative wall hooks, as the master bedroom has no closet access.

 

 
ACTIVE SUMMER POTAGER 

 

 

The house has an active potager (kitchen garden).

 

19th century farmhouses often grew herbs to use for culinary, medicinal and cosmetic needs.  In that tradition, the Larrier House offers a herb and vegetable garden for house guests’ culinary needs. 

 

The garden is located directly outside the kitchen door, with each herb clearly labeled. The garden includes mint, rosemary, bay leaf, sage, thyme, oregano, various vegetables and much more!

 

THE KITCHEN HAS A WALL OF RECIPES 

 

Some of the recipes posted on the wall were given with love, others strong-armed from restaurant chefs --All delicious. Recipes and their corresponding photos may be found in the kitchen.  If you have a recipe you would like included on the wall, mail it to Larrier House, P.O. Box 1813, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568

 

THE HORSESHOE

 

The horseshoe  above the Hoosier Cabinet was discovered in the wall of the living room where the TV now hangs.  A symbol of good luck, many islander find horses shoes within the old wall of their homes built in the 1800s.  The old wives’ tale is as follows: Hang it open-end up to collect good luck. Hang it open-end down above a doorway to share good luck with all passing through.

BIG BLUE BUNGALOW 

 

The blue house behind the fence located in the backyard is the new Larrier House guest bungalow.  It is not available to rent this year and will hold no occupants during your stay.

The Larrier House game closet holds games for children of all ages.  Open the closet door in the living room and you will find a plethora of board games, puzzles, cards, chips, makers and more. 

 

BOOK FOR CHILDREN

 

Children's books may be found hanging from the inside door of the game closet.

 

COOKBOOKS FOR CHILDREN

 

There is a special section for children’s cook books in the Larrier House kitchen by the kitchen door.

 

PLAY GROUND IN VINEYARD HAVEN 

 

Owen Park (Vineyard Haven) has a swing set and a gazebo.  Just about three blocks beyond the shops on Main St. (Vineyard Haven).

 

FARM CAMP 

 

FARM Institute at Katama Farm (Edgartown) is a working farm devoted to sustainable agriculture and farm education. The farm is open for visitors to stroll the barn, visit with the animals, or walk through the Friendship Garden. CAROUSEL

 

Flying Horses Carousel (Oak Bluffs) is the oldest operating platform carousel in America.
